Day 14 & 15 – I Continue To Learn From This

I’m really interested in the day to day changes that take place because of doing this challenge. I’ve learned to think differently about many things and perhaps even better I’m learning not to expect immediate gratification. Not that I don’t WANT immediate gratification, I’m just more inclined to accept that I’m going to have to take more than one run at something, rather than “win” with one nuclear barrage. This may be common knowledge to some, but it is a revaluation to me.

Exercise: 36 minutes of Yoga, twice! Deep cleansing with lots of twists & inversions; and one that focuses on concentrating on breath. Again, the best part of my day.

Meditation: I do 20 minutes after yoga. I find that my mind is calmed by then, which leads to brief periods of what I still do not know what to call, but feels like what I’m striving for. I think I’m going to find some kind of professional to teach me some day. Until then I keep trying.

Gratitude for both days:
1. I am grateful for the people in my past who were able to teach me things like accountability, and grace.
2. I am grateful for the delicious chicken cordon bleu from Speakeasy
3. I’m grateful for my car

Act of Kindness: I’ve started playing a game in my mind, as a result of this kindness practice, where when I’m tempted to think badly of someone, say in traffic if I’m tempted to call someone an asshole for something dumb they did, or at work, or home, I instead try to come up with the thing they are struggling with that caused them to act in that way. This, to me is a random act of kindness in the truest sense.

One Good Thing: The best thing that has happened over the last couple of days is that Downtown Dad and I have been able to agree on the shade of gray (hahahahaha) we want to paint our living room walls. We started as far apart as I wanted purplish grey, and he wanted green. We were able to narrow it down shade by shad and hue by hue until we came up with not one but two colors we totally agree on!

Agreeing on a paint color is HUGE!

I agree. My husband doesn’t understand my “system” of picking paint colors at all. I have the need to stand in front of that big display of paint chips and, shall we say meditate (?) on the colors until one grabs me. This often happens over the course of several trips to the store. Drives Jim absolutely nuts.

I like your idea for an act of kindness. I drive so much I’m positive I should adopt that one in my daily life!
