Days 20 Through 30 – Waffling

Days 20 Through 30 – Waffling

After my last blog post, I had some turbulence in my personal life that hit me a little harder than I thought it would.  Every day I waffled on whether I should write about it or not.  This turbulence became the proverbial “elephant in the room” or more like the elephant in my head, crowding out every other thought I had.  I decided to keep my turbulence to myself, but then couldn’t squeeze my thoughts past that damn elephant to even write a simple post. But –  I promised at the beginning of this 30 days that I would not quit, and I didn’t.  Just because I wasn’t blogging about my 5 tasks, didn’t mean I wasn’t still doing them (or, …most of them).  So even though I fell down on part of my committment, I am getting back up again.

The Japanese proverb fall down seven times and get up eight speaks to the concept of persistence. No matter how many times you fail fall down, you get back up again. Even if, like my little waffle up there, you fall down more than seven times, you can always get back up again.

I’ve learned a lot from this blogging challenge, not the least of which is that nothing happens right away.  If you want something bad enough, it is worth the struggle and perserverance it takes to get there.  And the other thing I learned is persistence.  Success doesn’t come fast, and if it does, it probably won’t last, but worse, you never get a chance to learn from your mistakes.  I think what is important is that I just keep doing my best and remain persistent…

…and accept another challenge!

Starting on November 1, I’m participating in National Blog Post Month or NaBloPoMo.  It’s like National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) except you just write a blog post every day for a month, not a whole novel.  I’m linking with a group called Yeah Write, which I subscribe to, but have never really dived into.  I hope to get to know the Yeah Writers better through this link.  Through them, I’m also linked with The Great and Powerful Blog-Her, and through that, with WordPress’s Daily Post.  These three entities have lured my interest with the promise of prompts and inspiration, so I’m hopeful that I can rise to and succeed in this new 30 day challenge!  Woo Hoo!

Good luck with your challenge. I’m tempted but my energy needs to move a different direction in November.

I think it’s great that you’ve refocused and are back at it. I’ll have to remember that when I’m feeling that way. Great post- Virginia
